Knowing that graffiti adversely affects public perception, architectural significance and the general quality of life in the French Quarter, the French Quarter Business Association has stepped up to initiate a community, business and citizen-based action plan to eradicate graffiti from the Vieux Carre.
 
The Vieux Carre Graffiti Abetment Program hosts two all-volunteer led graffiti cleanups a year. Volunteers receive a work t-shirt, all cleaning products and tools for the cleanup, and are treated to a post cleanup lunch donated by Bourbon Vieux. The cleanups start at 9am and last until noon.
